which is better for working out the gluteal muscles, squats or deadlifts?

  1. Deadlifts are considered more effective for the glutes as squats are considered more of a quadriceps exercise. In saying this lunges will work better than either, especially forward lunges. So starting from a standing position, take 1 leg forward into a lunge and push back to position. The pushing of the front leg will hit the glutes and they work wonders. And you are guarenteed to know about it the next day.
  2. Both of them do the job. For squats there are different ways to do exercise. I will show you an e-book "Strength training anatomy" which useful to pick right exercises for a certain muscle. It's awesome. Download it from this link: http://rapidshare.com/files/1801316/sta2nd.rar Also you can buy it from amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Strength-Training-Anatomy-Frederic-Delavier/dp/0736063684/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_k2a_2_img?pf_rd_p=304485601&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-2&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=0736041850&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1S97RH3YT3S8CMK7G2F6
  3. both. There is a long and complicated answer to this question, but i am going to break it down very simply. BOTH. it works the muscle in different ways, and at different angles. if your bored ( which i think you are, or you are not seeing the results you want) try some walking lunges or step ups. ***STEP UPS*** Start with 50% your max Squat Rep Get a Step from the aerobics section so that its about a foot to 1.5 feet off the ground. with one leg at a time only have one for stepping up onto it at once. while bringing your "off" foot behind you.
